The 4.0 AMC I6 is a living fossil. People run them 300,000 miles. I seriously doubt the 3.6 has the durability that was designed into the 4.0 I6 in an era before quality took a back seat to profit. In any case, I am pretty sure the 3.6 is better than the 3.8 which was/is a sorry POC. The I6 in it's last years was only like 195 horsepower.
