Mangalia is a port city and tourist resort in south-eastern Romania. The area has been inhabited since the neolithic. In the VIII - VI centuries B.C. it was colonised by the Greeks. The name of the city that they built was Callatis. in the year 71 B.C. the Romans conquer Callatis. The city Callatis was abandoned by the 7th century A.D. Instead, starting with the XIIIth century A.D. documents.
